LEARN// The Waves of the West

I've been enamored lately with the idea of surfing some river breaks. The oddity of it, the type of ride, and the ease of access gets me incredibly excited.

The thought that states like Colorado are spending more money on developing waves and water attractions than Florida blows my mind. Two states that both require a large amount of tourist income treating surfing totally differently. A few years ago I watched as Florida turned down several proposals to place wave forms out along the coast to try and increase surf tourism.

If you are currently in a land locked state or looking for an interesting road trip, hit up some of our countries rivers and do a little shredding. Below you'll find a TEDx talk about the science of river surfing an d the waveforms the use to create these one of a kind waves.
